San Francisco proper and Santa Clara might as well be on different planets from a market point of view.
I’ve been placing retail and fitness businesses in the Bay Area for the past 18 years, and believe that an NHL team in SF would be a colossal failure.
Maybe if the had an arena in Downtown Oakland, but even then, I think they’d struggle.
