As the lower seed, 2-3-2 sucks. But that抯 the perk of winning the regular season.

If you split the first four games, now the team without home ice/court gets game 5 at home and almost forces the home advantage team to win on the road when home advantage should not allow that to happen. All the momentum is in favor of the team who finished with the worse record. Now even though in the 2𣛨 style, games 6 & 7 are at home, if you lose game 5 on the road you are now forced to win both games 6 & 7 in order to win. It basically strips home advantage from the team who earned it.
