It guarantees that the higher seed has home ice advantage in a potential series clinching game, when game 5 isn’t always.
As the lower seed, 2-3-2 sucks. But that’s the perk of winning the regular season.

Isn't it a best of 5 though? There can't be a Game 6 or 7.
