Never mind the teams with space have space for a reason and it's not to acquire crap contracts unless an enormous premium is paid. The Carolina, Buffalo, and New Jersey aren't taking on old guys after spending the better part of a decade building a younger fast team
I think Chicago would be willing to take on a Taveras or a Hall if the cost was essentially zero as those players would help Bedard and they have cap space and those contracts are not too long.

I doubt they have any interest in rentals like Lindholm as the cost would be high and they would have no interest in signing him to a long term contract.

They will rebuild more slowly and not give up young assets for older ones, even very good older ones.

They might take shorter term cap dumps for high draft picks.
