Really those two should've been able to do it once or twice already with a team of beer leaguers around them.
I think what it comes down to is their refusal to grow their games and commit in all areas of the ice.
Still chronically minus players, even on nights when they do produce.
I chalk a lot of that up to edmonton's culture though. They've never been about defense and preaching the right things from their stars. They think if they can just score enough goals that everything else will take care of itself.
Woodcroft tries, and that's why he's gotten the best results. But he still won't demand changes from his two stars. No one in Edmonton dares to. And that's what will hold them back.
That and a subpar blue line and porous goaltending, of course.
