Meet the White Star sisters: Olympic, Titanic and Britannic. Fate prevented them from sailing together...until now.
They're all made from the same 1:1200 scale Titanic kit, with some slight modifications and new paint jobs for Britannic (hospital ship) and Olympic (crazy camouflaged ship). I had to mask the lines for Britannic, but found that the dazzle on Olympic was actually easier to paint freehand (plus I did it with a massive hangover! Not too shabby.) They're on an ocean of resin. I learned my lesson from the last attempt and warmed the stuff before pouring it so there's no bubbles. The original plan was to have a large White Star Line logo under the ships, but it ended up being hidden by too much dye (I included that in the photos). I think it would've been too obscured by the ships anyway, so not a huge disappointment. I'll add a White Star plate to the base before I show it next month, but it's otherwise done!
Gotta give a shout-out to Surferguy who kindly donated a big sheet of plexiglass to the cause, even though the effect ultimately didn't work (you can have it back if you want. You can still keep the beers, though).
Model show coming up June 3 at the Centennial Legion on Horton Road SW. I plan to show this one off there plus a few others. Come on out for some free entertaniment.
