The Oilers cap situation really is the cherry on all of this. They have 6 million to sign 6 players including their beloved Bouch bum. So Bouch bum is going to get that 6 million easily. Possibly more. So that puts them up against the cap already with 5 roster spots to fill. All their LTIR guys are gone so nothing to leverage there. They don't have any candidates for mysterious career ending injuries or "front office jobs". So what does that leave them with? They can't trade Kane as he's a known pariah. RNH has way too many years and a NMC. Hyman is a possibility but he was arguably their best depth player. Yamamadingdong is only 3 million and wont free up enough space on his own. I guess they could buyout Ceci and free up a couple million. Maybe trade Kulak as he has a reasonable cap hit. Those two moves would net you about 3.5 million in space after you factor in league minimum replacements. Still not nearly enough if they want to keep someone like Kostin who will get about 3. Or Macleod. The only other option I can think of is if they completely empty the cupboard of picks to bring on LTIR contracts. But Arizona has a monopoly on that so not likely lol. It really does seem like their window is closing rapidly.
