The highest point total in almost 30 years alone is enough, but to do it with a very average supporting cast past Draisaitl and a couple others, makes it a stone cold lock. McDavid scored more goals than Pastrnak as well.
Tkachuk finishes 2nd IMO. Rightfully so.

So...soooo many points on the PP. Plus/minus are in the same range, but McDavid is 3rd among the 3. Tkachuk on a relatively porous defensive team having a great +/- is pretty miraculous. Tkachuk was +29 and the next closest player was +19, whereas McDavid was 3rd on his team behind Ekholm and Nurse despite having so many points. Pastrnak was also 5th on his team in +/- despite his gaudy +34.
Even strength points by player:
Pastrnak: 76
McDavid: 75
Tkachuk: 72
Then you have to compare how far and above each player's point total was to the next closest player:
Pastrnak: 113 --> Marchand: 67
Tkachuk: 109 --> Barkov: 78
McDavid: 153 --> Draisaitl: 128 --> Nugent-Hopkins: 104
That's why this is a contest still and quite frankly, much closer than you think.
