yeah its not a decision I've had to ponder for quite a while but I think rarely would someone factor residency pay into their choice of training location (not that money doesn't matter of course especially for those with young families and with huge debts ) but really the difference in pay between provinces (when factored into the bigger picture of cost of living in said provinces etc) seemed marginal enough that you were mostly likely to choose based on - quality of program (and of course match of specialty), where you want to live for 2-5 years , and where you might want to live 'forever' (recognizing that some people intentionally pick somewhere a bit different for residency to experience something new, but many/most realize that once life gets settled if you are happy where you are- personally or professionally- its an easy choice to stay)
again I'm meaning to agree with you, not disagree with. Alberta Family med fared horribly in the match- despite the fact that pay for residency is 'fine' when compared across the country-that's not the reason Alberta is being avoided- would be an easier fix if it was
