Calgary Wranglers head coach Mitch Love said it best: it’s time to reset.
After picking up a 3-1 series win over the Abbotsford Canucks in Round 2 of the Calder Cup Playoffs, the club has a new challenge ahead of them in the Pacific Division Final vs. the high-powered Coachella Valley Firebirds.
“They present a lot of different challenges, they’re a good hockey team,” Love said earlier this week. “We had some meaningful affairs in their building down the stretch. I think that was a little more of the makeup of each team.”

No other team in the league had more points than the two rivals.
So it always sort of felt like the Pacific Division final playoff matchup that kicks off Thursday at the Saddledome was inevitable.
“I feel like it’s been a neck-and-neck race for the whole year, ever since Game 1, in the standings,” said Wranglers winger Walker Duehr. “And every time we play them, I think our record is .500. They have a really good veteran group and they have some elite players and a great goaltender. I would say a lot of similarities to our team, so I think it will be a really good matchup.
