Do you truly believe Sutter was the only reason?
I find that hard to believe when Elias is looking at an 8 year contract extension. Coaches come and go, and no way Elias is sitting there thinking "Oh I'd stay...but man, I can't do another 9 years of Darryl Sutter - so no, no thank you"?
I find it hard to believe that the Coach was such a villain that he single handedly sunk this season and sewered everything. I think the lack of winning, the geography, and the lack of a promising outlook towards future winning are probably the three biggest points of pain for this organization when it comes to signing/re-signing players without massive/insane premiums attached.
