The Calgary Stampeders will be acknowledging several of their legendary alumni with special jersey patches during 2023 training camp as well as pre-season play.
Strictly limited to the pre-season period, some members of the current Calgary team will temporarily be assigned numbers otherwise retired by the Stampeders franchise. The players given these numbers will wear a special patch with the name and number of the honoured player on their jerseys at practice and during pre-season games.
Once the regular season begins, the numbers will once again be taken out of circulation.
“These are some of the most important players in franchise history and temporarily putting these numbers in use is a great opportunity to remind everyone about their contributions,” said Stampeders general manager and head coach Dave Dickenson.
