Let’s be really clear: The lottery happens before the broadcast. It’s not happening live. So Weekes giving away the Columbus drop doesn’t mean that something was rigged. Instead, it almost certainly means that he already had the list, and he just got ahead of himself on live television.
So stand down, conspiracy theorists. Or don’t, because having it play out this way while the big-market Blackhawks win the top pick is pretty much a worst-case scenario for credibility – especially when nobody on either broadcast even acknowledged it. But yeah, this is just the sort of mistake that can happen on live TV.
Ok, so they know the results beforehand. Then why are they coming back from the break talking about who they hope wins the draft lottery if they already know? That seems pretty damn dishonest and bush league.

Edit: I am referring to SN production, not the lottery process.
