I quoted your post Cobra because I think I disagree. I don't think the Rangers are looking for picks and prospects. Their core players are in the peak now, Kreider, Panarin, Fox... They want to go for it IMO. Having a year of lindy at only 4.9 is super valuable to them.
Tanev and Hanifin are conceived in the same way- they are cost controlled for the next season.

They are zero cap room, and are only looking to move Lefreniere so they can sign Miller. They especially don't want to move Miller.
They can't afford Lindholm long term, and really don't need another centre all that badly. Lindholm at $4.9M for one year is a great bargain, but not if you are cap strapped to start with. It's a better bargain for a team that can (and wants to) sign him long term.
