The fact is, no team is going to bet $84MM on Huberdeau bouncing back to the degree where he is worth that contract. That's a ton of cap that needs to be managed going forward, not many teams could even afford it if they wanted to.
And Kadri really didn't fall off that badly, he was likely never worth that contract in the first place.

There are 51 forwards that made between 6-8 million last season. Kadri ranks 24th for goals and 26th for points, and at 7 million per, he's pretty much exactly where you'd expect him to be.
