This is my fear as well. And anyone who can't see the possibility of this is being wilfully blind to the fact that the organization had no choice but to side with its underperforming franchise forwards over its hall of fame coach due to contract sizes. It could be a long 8 years if the problem was the players rather than the coach.
That said, it would be silly not to see the glass-half-full possibility that this team could be a real contender under a different coach. It's a good team on paper and it's just as possible the problem in the room was the coaching rather than the Huby/Kadri. If that's the case and we see Huby's/Kadri's game take-off, markstrom return to form, Kylington back...and then add to that Wolf, coronato and Pelletier come in and outperform, there's no reason this couldn't be a top team in NHL next year.
We won't know until next season.
