Players in leagues across all sports have dealt with bad coaches and still played well. Gaudreau and Tkachuk are part of the rumoured people that wanted not part of Sutter look at their play last season. The Kings hated him so much they won Two Cups with him and did jack #### after him. If we are running back the same crew and hoping a new coach is the fix I think there are a lot of reasons to be skeptical about the decision making there.
As for the big two off-season acquisitions even if people want to put the majority of the blame on Sutter, there were large parts of their game last season that were flat out #### that is not the fault of the coach. Kadri's laziness is inexcusable even if he hates the coach for a player making 7 million and brought in for his leadership.

This is true but it’s also true that coaches across all sports get fired when they don’t get results. It’s been pointed out to me a couple of times that most coaches in the NHL last 2-3 years. Sutter lasted 3. We missed the playoffs and the team is a mess. There is a new GM coming in. How many coaches survive this kind of situation? 5%? 10%?
Coaches also get fired significantly more often than core players get traded. Like it or not, Huberdeau and Kadri are part of the core. You can maybe move one of them but you can’t move both. And if neither of them messed with Sutter, what are we going to do? Keep Sutter for 8 years despite poor results and just make everyone deal with it because of some pseudo-machismo old school nonsense? I dunno, seems like a future I’d rather not watch as a fan. I’ll take players that look like they’re having a good time and keeping guys like Lindholm and Backlund, thanks.
