If people would be scared of this bill being used for nefarious reasons by a future opposing government in the future, they should be scared of this being used by the current government.

Yet apathy reigns on.
Hmmm, do I? Tell me the difference between Facebook manipulating feeds based on what it wants you to see and what it wants you to react to and Netflix and YouTube manipulating feeds to serve you more Canadian content based on Government say-so. Which is better and why? Which causes more harm, and why?

Would I sing the same tune if another party introduced/passed this? Uh, yes, considering I don't expect the Liberals to reign forever, don't like the Liberals in the first place, and assume this will be in place whenever whoever takes over. Why do you assume that every opinion that doesn't match yours is infected with some sort of bias?

Would I sing the same tune if Smith became grand master of Canada and forced us all to watch Rebel News 24/7? Oh man, who knows, that seems like a super fair comparison to what's happening right now, though! For sure!

I never said it was good. It's dumb. But I think it's harmlessly dumb. I know what country I live in, and I know that the chances of it being used to cause harm are low. Could it be? Sure, I guess, not without incredible resistance. I see it as an extension of the typically useless CanCon stuff they have now.

You can disagree, which is fine. But the "oh, apathy reigns!" chicken-little stuff doesn't do it for me, personally.
