His brain and knowledge of the systems side of the game are still elite IMO.
It was the smaller changes he seemed to refuse to make, almost to the point of seeming petty at times.
His player usage, practicing the OT & PP, relying more on the youth....none of those are big changes. Hell most of his success came with young teams (04 in Calgary and the two Kings cup teams) but he just really seemed dead set on "my way or the highway" and it's what led to a lot of tension and really both him and Treliving not having jobs right now.

Agreed, think you nailed it. Everyone also keeps talking about highly intelligent he is, etc.
But how intelligent are you, if you cannot prioritize your ego below what’s best for the team?
