The problem is this year is so competitive that if you hold until the deadline the price will be higher than it is now. Obviously most management teams are overconfident in their own players, or hope their own players will emerge, but with so much divisional competition it's time to be open and honest in knowing the team doesn't have a set up man or a long reliever. I'm sure to some degree management knows it, but I do wonder how Rogers' financial plans work with ad-hoc money being spent this early into the season? I'm sure whomever gets brought in would come with a higher salary.
