Phillips is a skilled player that deserves to be paid for what he brings to a team. I don't think that happens in Calgary unless he is resigned to never getting a chance to be a full time NHL player. Unless Sutter and his ilk are removed from leadership a player like Phillips is not getting a fair shake. Moar Lucics, Lewises, and Ritchies and less young guys that can actually improve and possibly turn into more than what they currently are.

He's not getting a long term deal from anyone. He is going to get a one or two year, close to league-minimum, show-me deal.
And if the Flames offer the same or better deal as other teams, I doubt he is going to be petty about not wanting to sign it. He might, but I doubt it personally. My guess is that if he is given a legit chance to be a member of his home-town, favourite team, he'll still take it (if Sutter isn't still the coach, at least).
But we'll see.
