According to Adam Ruzicka in an interview he did on Gaborik's podcast, Tkachuk wanted to be captain and felt disrespected by Flames management when he was told no, which played a role in him wanting out. Tkachuk also said that there was a time that he was willing to sign a long term deal. People can believe what they want, but I am not sure why Ruzicka would just make up something like that. Ruzicka also needs to maybe not go around spilling dirt like that either though.
