I found the pace to be quick - I don't think they do official TV timeouts so the game flowed quickly. The arena being half empty means comfortable concourses, short bathroom lineups (if any) and leaving the arena via car was a breeze.
Oh, and ticket prices are about 1/6 of NHL prices, but AHL hockey quality is not that drastic of a dropoff.

Yes I will also be buying tickets to the next round if they advance. The main quality difference I noticed was a bit sloppier passing but that comes with an advantage of exciting turnovers/chances I guess. Speed and pace was still good, definitely feels like pro level hockey.
