For the Cowboys at 26, I think moving down in the draft makes a lot of sense. There is a ledge of talent that drops off at around the 20th pick and I think they could get better value in the 33-40 range. They don’t have a pressing need that will easily be addressed in round 1.
RB is probably the biggest need (now that they have brought in Brandin Cooks) but I don’t love taking an RB in the first round unless he is so much better than all other positional alternatives that it’s worth spending a first round pick knowing he’ll probably be washed after his first contract. I’d rather take a guy like Steve Avila in the mid thirties and add a 3rd round pick to take a running back like Zach Charbonnet, Devon Achane, or Kendre Miller.
