I've never actually been clear on what the "right" tees are. I've heard a number of ways to determine where someone should be teeing off, from handicap to driving distance to how far your average 5 iron goes compared to total course yardage, and so on. I play the blues because I hit my driver pretty far (note I didn't say "well") but based on my handicap I would be on the whites, at least by some people's measure.
