Yesterday, the City of Calgary, Province of Alberta, Calgary Sports & Entertainment Corporation, and the Calgary Stampede announced that they have come to an agreement in principle to proceed with a significant phase of the Culture + Entertainment District in downtown Calgary.

We are excited to be a part of this new phase, and look forward to contributing to the revitalization of the Rivers District of downtown Calgary, which will feature public amenities and public infrastructure, including a new community rink, all of which will be anchored by a new publicly-owned modern Event Centre.

As we move into the Summer and prepare for the 2023-24 NHL Regular Season, we know that there is a lot of work ahead of us. First and foremost is the completion of the analysis of the 2022-23 season and determining the best path forward, led by Don Maloney, President of Hockey Operations. This is a top priority for our organization, and we will share more with you soon.

Beyond that, we are looking forward to engaging with our valued Season Ticket Members in meaningful ways. We have heard your feedback, and are excited to share some details of what is to come through the Summer and into the Fall.
The Calgary Wranglers are playing in the 2023 Calder Cup Playoffs and the excitement and energy around the team is growing. Our first home game takes place at the Scotiabank Saddledome tonight, with our second game on Friday, April 28, and we look forward to seeing Flames prospects Dustin Wolf, Jacob Pelletier, Matthew Phillips, and many more in post-season action.

The Heritage Classic will take place at Commonwealth Stadium on October 29 this year where the Calgary Flames will face off against the Edmonton Oilers in a very special Battle of Alberta. As a Flames Season Ticket Member you will receive pre-sale access to this event in the coming weeks.

We know that engagement and connection to Flames management is important to you as a Season Ticket Member, and we are excited to announce that we are planning to host a 2023-24 Season Launch Event, exclusively for Season Ticket Members, prior to the beginning of the 2023-24 NHL Regular Season. This will be a new, refreshed way to connect with the Calgary Flames as we begin our journey for 2023-24, and we look forward to sharing more details with you about this Fall event.

All I could think of was “did they really just reference Matthew Phillips as a Calgary Flames prospect?”

Clearly they’re hearing it from the fanbase this go ‘round. Genuinely intrigued to see how they handle this off-season - I’m not sure I’ve seen the fanbase as sour as it is right now.
