Libby, which we use for library books, has finally blown up on my ancient iPad v1, despite a fix that worked for ages.

So we are looking to add a Kindle Fire as our second "reader". Libby apparently runs fine on it after being sideloaded directly from Libby's website.

Can anyone confirm the following:
- it works
- no monthly subscription is required (we are already Prime subs)
