Yes. Calgary drafted the second best player in the Matthews draft. A guy who is at least top 4 in the 2011 draft. Both left.
Calgary did have, for a decent amount of time, Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Monahan, Lindholm, Hanifin on good contracts - all guys who were high draft picks or would be in a redraft. They didn’t get good goaltending with all those pieces and/or those pieces didn’t win at the right time.
