Among those men convicted of sex crimes, only 15% had never attended church in their youth. The majority (56%) attended church services weekly or even more often when they were children. What might this mean? We probably don't want to say that mere attendance of church as a youth causes sexual criminality. But it seems to be the case that taking our children to church offers them no protection against a future of potential sexual criminality.

They're is no proof that white Christians are prosecuted more than other religions.
There is lots of proof that pedophilia is rampant in all religions.
Over what period of time is that church data collected and what portion of people never attended church in their youth? I’m assuming it’s US data. Right now in the US 70% of Americans have attended church in the past year. If you just looked at parents with children it probably goes up not sure though. So the stat that only 15% never attended church in their youth is likely within error margins of the general population.

The weekly one is a little lower but Americans report between 22% and 44% depending on the study. So at best without accounting for the time lag in the stats pedophila is 2-3 times more prevalent amoung weekly church goers. It would be interesting to see a proper analysis of the numbers to actually establish that prevelenace. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_attendance

So I think the conclusion that should be drawn is Pedophilia is rampant in areas where there is unchecked power on those in power. Religion is a place where it is more prevelent but I think it would hurt detection and prevention if the focus is on religion rather than places of authority. Schools, Familes, Sports, Churches, Community Groups etc.
