Plus, the fact that a city like Calgary has McMahon and the Saddledome as their primary venues is pretty embarrassing.

It's the opposite of embarrassing. It means the voter base in Calgary understands economics and hasn't been hoodwinked into giving owners/players a massive subsidy.
