Think about how many things the government has to legislate/maintain on the daily.
I think it's ok for either party to set policy on multiple items, especially around election time.
It's not like they haven't been talking about the big issues already.
Sometimes government's have to discuss policy on things that aren't interesting to some people. This might be of a low priority for you. But might be more important to others.
