One thing I find funny about this whole saga is that when Sutter was hired and things were going well, there were a lot people who were in denial that it was an Edwards hired and wanted to give credit to Treliving. Trelving has a lot of fans and I bet there is a lot of crossover between people who were giving him credit for that hire who now blame Edwards.

Granted, it is quite possible that Sutter was initially a Treliving hire, but the decision to change coaches now was taken away from him. I think there is also some truth about the media directing the narrative here. Treliving was a media darling and Sutter is the exact opposite. They are basking in the idea that Sutter is the root cause of everything bad.

If it is true that the owners lost trust in Treliving and limited his power, the main question is whether it was warranted or not. The guy did burn through and waste a lot of money on coaches. A lot of teams would have fired the GM for that, but Treliving was allegedly still offered a contract, albeit with some power limitation. I say allegedly because a lot of the information coming out still seems rather fishy and one-sided. There seems to be a lot of filling in the narrative that suits what some fans and the media want to believe. and maybe it's true, I don't know. Guys like Seravalli, Francis, and Valji have always disliked Sutter and will jump on things like this. Posters on here who come out of nowhere and claim to be insiders should be taken with a huge grain of salt as well. When people say things like; "I can assure you", but then don't actually offer any assurances, it seems pretty fake. If you can assure us, then do it with specifics.

I will say that it does seem pretty obvious that some players have an issue with Sutter and players having issues with a coach isn't unusual in general. I don't think Sutter is out of the woods yet and could still be dismissed. I just don't think they are going to do it before another GM is chosen. Treliving didn't have a clean slate when it came to his record of hiring and firing coaches, but the next GM could very well be given one. There is no point in firing him now if the next GM actually does want to work with him.
