That must have drove management and even the marketing team crazy.
You have this prospect that is a local kid, played his minor hockey in Calgary, one of the main stars on the new team in the city you're trying to promote in the Wranglers, who is averaging 1.5 PPG in the AHL, and fans are just screaming for him to get a real look in offensive minutes with the Flames.
And he sits in the press box, gets into 2 games, plays 16 minutes and now probably will leave the organization in the offseason. Probably pissed Brad Pascal off more than anyone because right about that moment he probably went "Well won't have Phillips on the Wranglers next year now".

Put yourself in Trelivings shoes after giving everything to the organization and having to pivot big time in the offseason and trading your franchise player because of a coaching hire made by the owner you get a 2 year extension. Its a slap in the face.
Even Burke alluded to it in his book that Tkachuk was going to be the captain of the team and its starting to look more and more like the meddling owner and his grubby hands sent the team spiraling last offseason.
When people keep blaming Treliving and the contract Tkachuk signed I think you blame Edwards and Sutter.
