I don't' think it's non sensical as some, especially within the context of corporate leadership and its intersection with sport. Generally speaking leadership starts with leading the self, and part of that process is the internal and external work to do that. Be it reading Covey, Maxwell, Sinek, or Brown. It's pretty much a whole industry at this point.

The intersection with sports happens at the team building and team leading side of that. I've been to leadership conferences etc where the guest speaker is usually a former or current coach, or hockey ops person, etc.


Now is that presser the time for Bean to engage with this in that manner? Probably not, but I get why he did.
