Just listened to the presser, all but the last four minutes.

Maloney saying he is doing a deep dive, talking and listening to everyone. That's typical but also was a bit of a stall, considering he admitted that this possibility was brewing for quite some time and he sat in on all the year end exit interviews. Overall he impressed with me being genuine, but would have liked to heave heard some more confidence or direction from him.

Really felt the media missed out on an obvious question. This club didn't have a POHO for 7+ years, why do you need one now? Is it just a temporary role to hire a GM? Or are they committed to the role long term?

Did someone ask if Darryl Sutter was a candidate for GM?

Also Bean stating it was a mutual decision is probably factually correct. I suspect Treliving gave some conditions under which he would stay and Flames weren't prepared to meet them. So he chose to leave.

Maloney's early comment about "Actually John had a really good idea yesterday. I should make a template of the qualities I'm seeking in a new GM". Or something to that effect. OK, that's not too brilliant of an idea, surely any hiring manager has thought that way. Weird that he felt obligated to throw credit Bean's way for such a basic concept, so seems obvious where the power resides. Which is probably true for most sports franchises really.
