And Sutter, pushes buttons but gets results. Always has. Not everyone loves him but they get success and elevate their worth.
If the results don't come, it's an issue.
But is Sutter to blame? Markstrom plays average and doesn't play most of the season like he did to end last season vs the Oilers, and the Flames are in the playoffs tonight.
In addition to that, execution and scoring some goals instead of posts would've changed numerous games this year. Being only up 2-1 halfway through a game they dominated becuase they hit 3 posts and missed a breakaway...and then let in a softy and it's 2-2 and lost in a shootout 4-3 has to wear on the team...but effort and game plan was not the issue, it was execution.
The SC winning Kings backed into the playoffs under Sutter and this team could've done decently well IMO id they got their confidence and mjo together these last couple weeks.
The fact they didn't, now the ends don't justify the the means for some players who were weary at the beginning of the year. If Backlund wanted out and Treliving told him to stay, well, that's not Sutter driving him out (as an example).
