Lost in all this is that Edwards may have been the one to bring Sutter back, but this is due to Trelivings inability to hire a competent coach and waste a lot of good years with a talented roster.
Whenever Treliving did good, he would somehow find a way to counteract it with something bad.
9 years with a GM and making playoffs half of those years isn't exactly doing a great job.

Yeah, Treliving had a lot of rope and was allowed to burn through a lot of coaches. It’s understandable that Edwards would eventually take the keys away. I still wouldn’t be shocked to see Sutter gone before the season starts if a new GM insists on hiring someone else. I just don’t think they trusted Treliving to make that decision.
