Tre lasted a year longer than I thought after Sutter was hired but this felt inevitable from that day.
I don't have a strong reaction for now. It's fashionable to #### on the org and ownership but this is a call that could have been made anytime in the last 2-3 seasons and it would have been understandable, whether Sutter was around or not.
Tre got the blank check for a rebuild, put together the pieces, and failed to accomplish much of anything. It always felt close though. It doesn't anymore.
At the same time he was always classy, and the Flames under him were still an org I can get behind with everything from the community foundation, support of things like Pride nights and Luke Prokop, and absolutely handling the Peters situation the right way.
Someone else in the NHL will be lucky to have him.
