Except it wouldn't be a three-headed monster, because everyone would know the plan. The three-headed monster issue is a problem because of the uncertainty, and the mess that it creates.
If you have a set plan that the tandem is Markstrom-Vladar, but you are going to periodically bring up Wolf to get some starts and experience, what's the problem? You have a 4 or 5 game homestand, you give Markstrom or Vladdar a couple days off, you add Wolf to the roster for a couple games, let him start one and back one up, then return to the Wranglers where he can continue to get regular starts. And you can do this as many times as you want, because he's waiver-exempt.
Actually sounds like a great plan to me. And it buys more time to determine Vladar's status, as well as keeping their depth at the position, in case of injury.
