The movies did a good job of editing the books for Rowling. No publisher on earth was going to chop 90,000+ words out of a Rowling manuscript by the time book four came around.
There's a ton of content that never made it to screen, but how much of it was minutiae? (I can't remember). Having Rowling herself onboard as a show runner is quite significant in that she can add to and fill in the story herself instead of relying on a David Benioff/DB Weiss archetype.
