I always thought Lindholm strengths were his terrific positioning in all 3 zones, as well as his checking game, competitiveness and down low in the defensive zone. But outside of his shot, I don’t think anything else about his offensive game really stood out.
He does a lot of things well, but in terms of god given skill/talent/instincts, Gaudreau and Tkachuk are well ahead of Lindholm and that’s harder to find, making those 2 more valuable IMO.
They Matrix’d the opposition on a regular basis and the team missed those easy goals this season especially against the bad teams. Gaudreau and Tkachuk destroyed bad teams last season and I think that’s a big reason why the team this year struggled to replicate that same success.
Sometimes, just for the sake of your physical and mental wellbeing, you just need your stars to have a big game where you easily cruise to victory as opposed to fighting tooth and nail for victories every night against every single opponent.
