I'm mostly just sad we're, yet again, forced to cheer for a team to lose rather than riding a wagon to the finals.
I've been feeling this is Edmonton's best chance at making a legit run since around December. Are they a contender? Maybe not in the traditional sense, but when you look at them from an unbiased perspective, I don't see how they aren't a favorite to come out of the west. They made the best acquisitions at the deadline than I can remember. Everyone praises Ekholm, but Bjugstad was just as good for depth. If Skinner can maintain the pace he's been on, all they have to do is draw penalties and cash in.
That being said, LA won't be a pushover and is built better for the post season. My gut feeling is that McDavid, Draisaitl, and the Oiler PP will be the storyline for the next few weeks.
I know the schtick around here is to ignore any sort of success they have due to winning all the lotteries. Maybe the dread I've felt ever since they won McDavid is just that much more apparent. I hate it.
