I think it makes the most sense to find a spot for him on the big team. Not sure what else he has to prove in the AHL. For his development, NHL makes the most sense next year.

But economically, it's the last year of his deal. If he plays another year in the AHL, that next contract will be plenty cheaper than if he plays in the NHL and does exceptionally well.
