Why don’t you explain? Every single player who has come up has done just fine or outperformed their NHL counterparts. You’re going to straight face tell me here that tonight Pelletier or Coronato just can’t keep up with the rest of these guys? You see the puck hop over Dubes stick, Huberdeau shoot it at the crest 3 times, Lindholm soft shots from perimeter, etc.? How about Duehr? Yeah he was a bust.
You think Lewis, Lucic, Ritchie, Coleman, Dube, Mangiapane are “so much better” than our best AHL players? You give Coronato, Pelletier, Zary, Phillips the kind of icetime any of these other guys had this year and they’ll have about the same production.
I think the game is way younger, due to the salary cap, and I think that the delta between the NHL and AHL has narrowed significantly than what it used to be. I think your opinion is one that is dated, and wrong. Tell me when you watch these guys you don’t think they can keep up or make plays.
It’s icetime, opportunity, and having a coach give you a chance. And honestly to a degree, luck.
