Quote:
The Montreal newspaper reported that eight members of the foundation board, who were not directors at the time the donation was received in 2016, then demanded that an independent investigation be carried out. They asked those longer-serving members of the board to recuse themselves from any discussion of the matter because they were in a conflict of interest.

In her resignation letter to the board and the foundation’s members, obtained by The Globe, Ms. Fournier said she attempted to “translate your trust into accountable actions.”
“Sometimes, the end is not exactly what we had planned or designed,” she wrote. “It comes as a different version of reality. With humility, we must embrace this unpredictable turn.”

It sounds like Fournier was unfortune collateral damage caught in the corruption web of Laurentien elites and not told of just how deep the corruption truly was. At least this seems to be how the story leads.
Several asked to be recused, including people with famous last names did not of course. Hence the mass resignations.
