I think even more than most goalies Markstrom is driven by confidence. The injury changed his season two years ago, and like this year, he showed signs of regaining confidence at the end of the season. Last year he indeed regained it and played great. This year was tough - he was hung out to dry a bunch of times and didd’t make the fantastic save to make up for it. And gradually that seemed to become a theme and get into his head. But he’s played with a lot more confidence in this stretch, whether it raised his save% or not. So that’s hope for next year.
I have no hope for him.

Jacob Markstrom is NO GOOD.

Want an apt comparison?? Tommi Salo.

Dude was just fine and then got mentally destroyed by Belarus in the Olympics, he never recovered.

Markstrom got mentally destroyed in the playoffs by the Oilers, and I have zero faith he will recover.

Hopefully he overtrains in the offseason ensuring he ends up on LTIR for the remainder of his contract.
