I don't think it's unpopular at all. For most of the time he's been here he's proven he can't assemble a group of players which have cohesion or a focused identity. The team isn't over fast, skilled, big, gritty, etc. You can bring in any coach you want and they are going to get similar results.

This year was like the Brent Sutter years
When it works, it works, but the margins are too tight to play low skill hockey and hope your skill wins out
Once the team bought in but didn’t get results, the hill was too high
They were pros and bought in, but weren’t error free and it was frustrating
Making sacrifices that don’t pay off is gruelling
