Honestly, I lost any engagement in the season back in December, when Sutter decided it wasn't worth giving Phillips a chance, but Walker Duehr was. And that's no slight on Duerr, he's been a solid 4th liner, but he brought absolutely nothing the Flames were missing. Nor did Nick Ritchie. Nor do Trevor Lewis or Milan Lucic. These kind of guys are how you end up with a team that mindlessly shoots on net and pads the opposing goalie's SH%. It's just not skilled hockey Anyone who thinks Walker Duehr deserved a better opportunity than Matthew Phillips is part of the problem that plagues this organization.
Never mind Ruzicka, Pellettier, and Coronato sitting in every meaningful game down the stretch.
Or being the only team to have a Dustin Wolf calibre prospect goalie and ride Markstrom like he's Hasek, when he's more Jonas Hiller 2016
Heck, pretty sure if you extrapolate Vladar's point% this team was on a playoff pace in his starts, but they stuck to this arbitrary decision that Markstrom is the starter.
