I've always read Bose isn't bad sound but you pay a lot for the "Bose" name and there are other better systems you can get for the same prices.

The big thing about a HTPC setup is connections. Make sure there will be enough for all your A/V equipment. Consider everything you have an may want to get, it is in this area that a lot of equipment comes up short.
Consider there are enough connections for Audio (CD, receiver (AM & FM), do you still use cassettes?, turntable?) Video (DVD, HD-DVD, Cable/Sat, video game console(s), VCR?, Camcorder?)

If you get something that you aren't happy with you will end up replacing it soon rather than later and spending more money in the long run.
