And we're all better for it. The forum sure is.
But don't worry, we ban people for insulting other members and have a swear filter to protect us. That keeps everything civil.
Barely better than twitter but fall short on the moral high ground to reddit. Something we can all be proud of.

So that is a yes? That sounds like a yes.
My read here is on one side there are posters saying that there are designated boards on the forum for political conversations and there are boards designated for hockey talk. If you want to talk politics or hockey, you know where to go. And if you aren't interested in one or the other, you can just steer clear. And these posters are seeing more and more politics are bleeding into the hockey talk boards.
On the other side, posters are telling posters in the first group to just avoid those threads. Which is fair, I mean it is the same principle as sticking to specific boards. But more and more posters are expressing political views in threads that have no obvious political connotation at all. Which makes avoiding this kind of discourse increasingly difficult. But this side goes further. In addition to just telling the first group to avoid such threads, they also advocate banning posters who express political views they don't like. Herein lies the real problem. If such political discourse can show up anywhere and any engagement could be construed as a bannable offense, we've in effect poisoned the well.
